Tourism Boost Fund

As part of our commitment to growing international visitation and ensuring its benefits are spread more evenly throughout the year, we’re proud to have collaborated on a successful application to the Regional Tourism Boost Fund (RTBF)—a $3 million contestable fund designed to support regional tourism growth and encourage greater dispersal of international visitors across Aotearoa.

The fund supports activity delivered between April and July 2025, with a strong focus on attracting Autumn/Winter travellers—particularly from the Australian market. All proposals were required to be collaborative and led by a Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO).

Destination Hauraki Coromandel contributed to two successful campaign proposals through the RTBF:

  • 2 Easy to Book - Upper North Island Campaign ($600k), led by RotoruaNZ, wass focused on targeting Australian audiences along the eastern seaboard. The campaign capitalises on the new Jetstar flight from the Gold Coast to Hamilton and builds on the success of the earlier 2EASY2BOOK campaign, while also collaborating with THL's Apollo, Budget and Viator. This project brings together a strong collaboration of upper North Island RTOs: RotoruaNZ, Northland Inc, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Destination Hauraki Coromandel, Tourism Bay of Plenty, Hamilton & Waikato Tourism, Tairāwhiti Gisborne, Destination Great Lake Taupō, and Visit Ruapehu.

  • Explore More of NZ - The Nationwide North America – Air New Zealand Campaign ($680k), led by Tātaki Auckland, involves all 30 Regional Tourism Organisations across the country. This campaign focuses on promoting regional New Zealand in the North American market, encouraging greater awareness and visitation beyond the main centres.

These campaigns represent a united and strategic approach to international marketing, combining regional strengths and national collaboration. We’re excited to be part of this mahi and to continue positioning Hauraki Coromandel as a must-visit destination, especially during the quieter seasons.
