Torehina - Planting Project

The Torehina planting project is part of the Forest & Bird Upper Coromandel Branch's efforts to restore and protect our native coastline. The area is actively being regenerated with native flora, enhancing the region's natural beauty and biodiversity for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Why Plant Here:

  • Support the regeneration of native coastal plants, enhancing the area’s scenic beauty and biodiversity for locals and visitors to experience.
  • Contribute to creating improved habitats for native birds and other wildlife, enriching the natural environment that draws visitors to the area.
  • Join the local community in their efforts to rejuvenate and protect this precious coastal landscape.
  • Plant native species to help stabilise the soil and safeguard the coastline, maintaining its appeal for future locals and visitors.

Your donation will help ensure that Torehina’s stunning coastline remains a beautiful, thriving destination for tourists and nature lovers alike. By planting here, you’ll play a part in preserving the natural wonder of the Coromandel for all to enjoy.

Planting Seasons

Each year, new plantings help stabilise the bank and add life back into Torehina and surrounding forest. These snapshots capture what was planted, who was involved, and how the area is being restored season by season.
