Season 1 at Historical Maritime Park
Set along the tranquil riverbanks of Paeroa, Historical Maritime Park offers visitors a journey through time with its historic buildings, lush gardens, and fascinating maritime history. The park highlights Paeroa's past as a port, displaying artifacts from Captain Cook's explorations, the Northern Steam Ship Company, and naval visits. Guests can also enjoy the river’s scenic beauty aboard Tamati, a lovingly restored kauri paddleboat, bringing the Ohinemuri and Waihou Rivers’ history to life.
The park's peaceful grounds provide a beautiful space for visitors to enjoy, offering paddleboat rides, self-contained camping, kayaking, and much more. However, the park’s riverbanks need restoration and bank stabilisation after Cyclone Gabrielle.
By donating, you’ll help revitalize Historical Maritime Park’s natural beauty and historical legacy, helping it continue to attract and inspire visitors.
Each year, new plantings protect the waterways at Historical Maritime Park. These snapshots capture what was planted, who was involved, and how the area is being restored season by season.
Your donation helps fund the next round of planting at Historical Maritime Park and contributes to predator control, keeping our waterways healthy and thriving for generations to come.
