Season 1 

The first planting season at Driving Creek saw community hands and conservation expertise come together to continue a legacy of regeneration. Over recent weeks, Driving Creek’s conservation team and volunteers planted new natives through the entrance area and inside the predator-proof sanctuary, strengthening the forest canopy and filling gaps where seedlings haven’t yet established.

A total of over 60 native plants were added, including species gifted through GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL - Kaitiaki and purchased from Colville Harbour Care Nursery thanks to generous visitor donations. With both nurseries eco-sourcing seeds locally, these plants are well adapted to Coromandel conditions and will help boost biodiversity and resilience across the site.

  • Kōhūhū (Pittosporum tenuifolium) - 2
  • Kōwhai (Sophora microphylla) - 3
  • Titoki (Alectryon excelsus) - 3
  • Puawananga (Clematis paniculata) - 6

Total planted: 60+ natives.
