Long Bay and Tucks Bay are surrounded by 57 acres of native bush on the hilly slopes towards Coromandel inland. From the campgrounds, you have access to Tucks Bay via the coastal walk.

Tucks Bay Coastal Walk is an easy 10min walk which starts from the far end of Tucks Bay campsite and follows the coast around the rocky point dividing the two campgrounds. Halfway along the track, there is a lookout spot, ideal for enjoying the sunset and looking towards both bays. Between the lookout point and Long Bay, you can access some good spots for fishing off the rocks.

Alternatively, you can access Tucks Bay via the Kauri walk, which is a gentle 40-minute loop in the Long Bay Scenic Reserve which weaves through lush native bush. Beginning behind the boat facility at Long Bay Motor Camp, the track meanders upward beneath a canopy of young kauri, nikau palms, and past a magnificent 1,200-year-old kauri tree. It then descends to the gravel road linking Long Bay and Tucks Bay. From here, you can loop back to Long Bay or wander on to the secluded shores of Tucks Bay.
