Discover the wonders of the night sky at this immersive astronomy experience in Kuaotunu. Participants will explore stargazing with binoculars and small telescopes, learn the fundamentals of astronomy and stellar science, gain insights into astrophotography, and discover the rich traditions of Māori astronomy and Matariki. No prior astronomy knowledge is required, making this event suitable for beginners, enthusiasts, educators, and tourism operators alike.

The programme includes visits to the nearby Stargazers’ Observatory and B&B hosted by local astronomer Alastair Brickell, alongside a series of expert-led talks and workshops. Guest speakers include Bruce Ngataierua on Māori astronomy and Te Arorangi Māori, astrophotographer John Drummond, and Nalayini Davies, who will present a session on developing astrotourism experiences and businesses.
