Bush or Beach?
We’ve all been there, you wake up on a perfect Coromandel morning, coffee in hand, and wonder: do I grab the hiking boots or the beach towel?
Luckily, you don’t actually have to choose (you can do both!). But if you want to settle the debate once and for all, we’ve made a guide to help you decide.
If this sounds like you, head for the bush
-
You love the sound of tūī, kererū, and the rustle of leaves overhead.
-
You get a buzz from reaching a lookout and taking that "made it!" selfie.
-
Your ideal day involves a thermos of coffee, snacks in your pack, and mud on your boots.
-
You’re secretly hoping to spot a wētā, gecko, or maybe even glowworms.
Some of our top trails include The Pinnacles, the Karangahake Gorge tunnel walk, and the Coromandel Coastal Walkway.
If this sounds more like you, hit the beach
-
You can’t resist the sound of waves crashing or the smell of salt in the air.
-
Jandals, ice creams, and sandy toes are your ultimate vibe.
-
You’re all about lazy picnics, quick dips, and long beach walks.
-
A sunset with a takeaway pizza is your idea of romance.
Head for Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, or go off the beaten track to spots like Otama Beach.
Or… just do both
The best thing about Hauraki Coromandel is that you don’t have to choose. Go ziplining through native forest in the morning, grab lunch, then be out on a boat tour or panning for gold by the afternoon. End the day with fish and chips on the beach.
Now it's over to you...are you Team Bush or Team Beach?
